THALES + FRIENDS have compiled a series of video interviews with personalities from science, literature and art.

The group’s project entitled “Meetings on the Bridge”,” which alludes to bridging the gap between science and all kinds of cultural activities, continues with a meeting between the British writer Ananyo Bhattacharya and the writer and mathematician Tefcros Michaelides.

The discussion was organised on the occasion of the publication of the Greek version of ‘John von Neumann | The Man from the Future’ (Travlos Publishers) by Ananyo Bhattacahrya.

Ananyo Bhattacharya is a London-based science journalist. In his fifteen-year journalism career, he has been a senior editor at Nature, Chemistry World and Research Fortnight, covering everything from science policy and bibliometrics to genetics and particle physics. Between 2014 and 2019, he was Community Editor and then Science Correspondent at The Economist.

Prior to journalism, Ananyo Bhattacharya worked as a medical researcher at the Burnham Institute in San Diego, California. He holds a degree in physics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in protein crystallography from Imperial University London.

Author and mathematician Tefkros Michaelides, a founding member of the group THALES + FRIENDS, is active in the field of “mathematical fiction”. He has published several novels and books popularising science. He has also participated in various anthologies with his short stories. His works have been translated into eight foreign languages. The French Republic has honoured him with the title ‘Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques’.
